The CBSE board examinations have undergone significant rescheduling for certain subjects, alongside the introduction of the “Twice a Year” examination system for Class 10.
1. Revised Datesheet (Important Changes)
- The CBSE has recently updated the examination schedule for papers initially planned for March 3, 2026, due to administrative considerations:
- Class 10: The examination that was set for March 3 has been rescheduled to March 11, 2026.
- Class 12: The Legal Studies examination (along with others on March 3) has been postponed to April 10, 2026.
- Start Date: The theory examinations for both classes will still commence on February 17, 2026.
2. Class 10: “Twice a Year” Exam System
Beginning this year, Class 10 students will have two chances to take the board examinations to alleviate stress:
- Phase 1 (Mandatory): From February 17 to March 11, 2026. Results are anticipated by April 20, 2026.
- Phase 2 (Optional): From May 15 to June 1, 2026. This phase allows students to enhance their scores in up to three subjects.
- Best Score Counts: Only the higher score from the two attempts will be recorded on the final marksheet.
- Note: This “twice a year” option is currently applicable solely to Class 10.
3. Admit Cards & Practical’s
- Private Candidates: Admit cards have been issued and can be downloaded from the official CBSE website.
- Regular Students: Schools are required to distribute signed and stamped admit cards during the first week of February 2026.
- Practical Exams: These have been ongoing for most schools since January 1, 2026, and must be finalized by February 14, 2026.
4. Key Exam Day Rules
- Reporting Time: Students are required to report by 10:00 AM. Reading time is allocated from 10:15 AM to 10:30 AM, with writing commencing promptly at 10:30 AM.
- Attendance: A minimum attendance of 75% is essential to qualify for the examinations.
- Answer Writing: New section-wise answer writing guidelines have been implemented for Science and Social Science to prevent subject mixing.
