Students who wish to enroll in the Postgraduate programme at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) have the option to choose from three pathways this year. Following the CAT examination, candidates may select JAP 2026, CAP 2026, or SAP 2026. The Joint Admission Process (JAP) 2026 is the newly launched entrance examination for MBA admissions. This exam was introduced in September 2025 and is overseen by IIM Raipur. IIM Kashipur, Raipur, Ranchi, and Tiruchirappalli will participate in JAP 2026 for MBA admissions.
Joint Admission Process (JAP):
Admissions through JAP 2026 will be determined based on CAT percentile, academic achievements, work experience, and considerations of diversity. This examination provides candidates with the advantage of applying to multiple prestigious IIMs via a unified platform, thereby minimizing logistical challenges and offering interview opportunities across various regions of the country. The final weightages and cut-off scores will be established following joint discussions among the participating IIMs.
Common Admission Process (CAP):
The Common Admission Process (CAP) 2026 is a collaborative effort among four IIMs to conduct Personal Interviews (PI) and Written Ability Tests (WAT) for admission into postgraduate programmes. This centralized selection process is utilized by the newer IIMs to admit students into their MBA/PGP programmes. Candidates registered under CAP are not obligated to attend separate interviews for each IIM. Instead, these candidates participate in a single round of WAT and PI. The selection process is crafted to evaluate a candidate’s knowledge, skills, and aptitude for management education, typically involving a written test, followed by group discussions and personal interviews.
Supplementary Admission Process (SAP):
The Supplementary Admission Process (SAP) 2025 serves as the final selection round for MBA admissions for candidates who have not been shortlisted in the IIM CAP round. The IIMs select candidates for the SAP round using a lower cutoff than that of the CAP round.
