Students are prepared to take the JEE Main 2026 session 1 exam, which is set for next week. As candidates prepare for this entrance examination, here are some useful preparation tips from JEE Main top scorers.

Focus on high-weightage topics

Saksham Jindal, who achieved AIR 1 in JEE Main 2025 with a score of 332 in JEE Advanced, shares his key advice for aspirants during the final phase of their preparation. Currently enrolled in BTech at IIT Bombay, Jindal recommends concentrating on chapters that carry significant weight. “In Mathematics, topics such as Calculus and Vectors are crucial and should receive additional preparation time. In Physics, chapters like Rotation, Fluid Mechanics, and Electromagnetic Induction, along with Salt Analysis and Coordination Chemistry in Chemistry, may require a considerable amount of time,” he informed NDTV.

Regarding his preparation approach for board examinations, he mentioned, “I began serious preparation for the board exams approximately 15 days prior to the exams and ensured that I practiced writing more subjective answers to align with the board’s format. I worked through enough problems to build confidence in the subject.”

Emphasizing the significance of past years’ question papers, he remarked, “Working through previous years’ question papers is essential as it aids in comprehending and acclimatizing to the exam format. Students should aim to tackle all the easier and medium-level questions first, reserving the more challenging ones for later.”

Jindal underscored the necessity of maintaining a calm and composed demeanor during examination periods. He noted that staying connected with teachers and parents assists students in remaining calm and motivated. “Regular revision is vital, and students should consistently review the subjects using concise notes.”

“Comprehensive preparation through NCERT”

Rajit Gupta, who achieved AIR 1 in JEE Main 2026, stated, “I attained 96.4 percent in Class 12 and scored 332 in JEE Advanced. My approach to exam preparation has been straightforward and uncomplicated. I diligently adhered to my teachers’ guidance and prepared for the entrance examinations throughout the year. Additionally, I enrolled in the Allen coaching institute for support. I paused my JEE preparation during the board examinations to concentrate solely on those. In the final phase of my preparation, I meticulously reviewed NCERT materials and practiced previous years’ question papers.”
