CAT Exam Result 2025: Approximately 2.58 lakh candidates who took the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2025 are anxiously anticipating their results, which are expected to be released shortly. After the results are announced, the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) will initiate the shortlisting process for the subsequent stages of admission.

The list of candidates selected for further rounds will be made available on the official websites of the respective IIMs. Individual interview call letters will be sent to the shortlisted candidates. The criteria for shortlisting differ among the IIMs.

Admission Process

The IIMs select candidates for interviews based on their unique selection criteria, which vary from one institute to another. The selection process may encompass a Writing Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD), and Personal Interview (PI).

Performance in CAT 2025 is a crucial aspect of the admission process. Furthermore, IIMs may take into account factors such as academic history, relevant work experience, and diversity in gender and academics when shortlisting and ranking candidates.

The admission processes, cut-off scores, and the weightage assigned to different evaluation criteria differ across IIMs. Candidates are encouraged to consult the admission policies of individual IIMs for comprehensive information.

Eligibility Verification

If a candidate is selected for an interview by any IIM, he or she must adhere to the following eligibility verification requirements:

Mark Sheets and Degree Certificate

Candidates are required to present all mark sheets and submit attested copies to verify their eligibility during the interview process. If chosen for a program, candidates must provide the original degree certificate and mark sheets for all semesters/years, along with attested copies, upon joining the program.

Reservation Category Requirements

Candidates who belong to SC, ST, NC-OBC, EWS, and PwD categories are obligated to present the original caste/class and/or disability certificate during the interview and submit a photocopy, in addition to the documents outlined in the “Mark Sheets and Degree Certificate” section.

What Should Candidates In Final Year Of Graduation Do?

Candidates who are in their final year of a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification, if selected for an interview, must provide an original certificate from the Principal/Registrar/Director of their University/Institution. This certificate should confirm that the candidate has achieved at least 50% marks or equivalent (45% for SC, ST, and PwD candidates), based on the most recent grades or marks.

An attested copy of this certificate must be submitted at the time of the interview.

For postgraduate programs at IIMs, candidates who are selected will be permitted to join the program provisionally, contingent upon their submission of a certificate from the Principal/Registrar of their University/Institution (issued on or before the date specified by the respective IIM). This certificate must verify that the candidate has fulfilled all requirements for obtaining the bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification, even if the results are still pending.

Admission will be finalized only upon the submission of the original mark sheet and qualifying degree certificate that demonstrate the candidate has successfully completed the bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification mentioned in the certificate.

Candidates are required to achieve a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent (45% for SC, ST, and PwD categories) and provide attested copies of the mark sheets and qualifying degree certificate.

The deadline for submitting the qualifying degree or equivalent mark sheet and certificate is December 31, 2026.

Failure to provide the necessary documents by the deadline, or the submission of inaccurate information, will lead to the cancellation of provisional admission.

Candidates are encouraged to consult the admission policies of the respective IIMs for specific timelines and requirements.
