CBSE Releases Sample Question Paper Class 12 Artificial Intelligence Exam

The AI paper consists of two sections: Employability Skills and Subject-Specific Skills, which encompass communication, AI concepts, and data storytelling. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has published Sample Question Paper-1 for Artificial Intelligence to assist students in navigating the fast-changing landscape of AI. The examination is set for March 24. Tailored for Class 12 students in the 2025-2026 academic year, the sample paper is designed to help learners become acquainted with the exam structure, enabling them to excel in the 50-mark, two-hour assessment.

The paper is split into two sections:

Part A focuses on Employability Skills (10 marks) and Part B on Subject-Specific Skills (40 marks). Part A addresses vital soft skills such as communication, self-management, ICT, entrepreneurship, and green skills, featuring 6 objective-type questions (students must answer any 4) and 5 short-answer questions (students must answer any 3). Part B explores AI core concepts in detail, including 24 objective questions (students must answer 20), 6 short-answer questions (students must answer any 4), and 5 descriptive questions (students must answer any 3). Certain questions assess knowledge of AI phases:

scoping, design, deployment, loss functions such as RMSE and MSE, and data storytelling techniques. For instance, students may be required to calculate RMSE based on provided data or to explain the benefits of cross-validation compared to train-test splits.

According to officials from CBSE, the examination focuses on practical skills, featuring scenarios like forecasting house prices through regression and mentioning AI tools such as DataRobot and Scikit Learn. The addition of visual components—icons representing processes associated with data and diagrams that demonstrate the impact of data storytelling—introduces an interactive aspect.

Students are encouraged to download the official PDF from the CBSE website (cbseacademic.nic.in) and engage in thorough practice before the deadline, as it mirrors the precise blueprint and difficulty level anticipated for the March 2026 board exam.
