Delhi Nursery Admissions 2026: Private educational institutions in Delhi have announced the second merit list for nursery admissions for the academic year 2026-27. Approximately 1,741 schools have published their lists, including waiting lists, and initial trends indicate that numerous admissions may only be confirmed in the final round.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to visit the selected schools from February 10 to February 16 to finalize the admission process. The ultimate seat allocation list is scheduled to be released on March 5, 2026.

Age Relaxation for Students

For the 2026-27 academic session, children must be at least three years old for nursery, four years for KG, and five years for Class 1 as of March 31, 2026. Schools may permit an age relaxation of up to one month at the discretion of the school administration, as stated by the department.

Number of Shortlists

Several educational institutions have reported significant shortlists. Sovereign School located in Rohini has selected 409 students, while Gita Ratan School in the same locality has shortlisted 136 candidates. St George’s School in Alaknanda has confirmed 155 students, whereas Loreto Convent School in Delhi Cantonment has shortlisted 11.

Delhi Public School, situated in East of Kailash, has selected 14 candidates and placed 132 applicants on a waiting list, while Apeejay School in Saket has confirmed 150 students and kept 176 on standby, according to official sources from PTI. As per the revised admission framework announced by the Directorate of Education (DoE), the foundational stage encompasses nursery and kindergarten (KG), followed by Class 1.

Admissions were carried out based on various criteria, including proximity to the school, sibling preference, and alumni status. Information regarding applicants was uploaded on January 9, and the marks assigned under the points system were made available to the public by January 16.

The admission process is set to conclude on March 19. A district-level monitoring cell has been established to ensure adherence to regulations and to address any grievances.

The department has also clarified that any lottery draw, if necessary, must take place in the presence of parents and be recorded on video to guarantee transparency. Schools are allowed to charge only a non-refundable registration fee of Rs.25 and are prohibited from imposing capitation fees or compelling parents to buy a prospectus.
