The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) is set to announce the results for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) for December 2025 on February 17, 2026. Candidates who participated in the examination will have the opportunity to check their results on the official NBEMS website by utilizing their login credentials. The FMGE was administered on January 17, 2026.
FMGE is organized by the National Board of Examinations for Indian citizens or Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) who have completed their primary medical education from institutions outside India but wish to practice in India. Foreign medical graduates must pass this examination prior to registering with the National Medical Commission or the State Medical Council.
Candidates are required to achieve a minimum score of 150 marks out of a total of 300. The FMGE question paper consists of 300 multiple-choice questions, which are divided into two sessions. Each session contains 150 questions and has a duration of 150 minutes. The examination includes multiple timed sections within each session. For instance, if there are three sections (A, B, and C), each section will consist of 50 questions, with 50 minutes allocated for each section.
Historically, the pass percentage for the FMGE has been notably low, fluctuating between 10% and 25%. The lowest recorded percentage was 4.93% in 2014, while the highest qualifying percentage was 39% in the December 2022 FMGE.
Examination Scheme
The examination consists of a single paper featuring 300 multiple-choice questions, which will be conducted in a computer-based format. Each question will present four response options. Candidates must select the correct or most appropriate answer from these four options. To qualify for the exam, a candidate must achieve a minimum of 150 marks out of 300.
The paper will be divided into two parts, both of which will be taken on the same day, with each part containing 150 questions to be completed in 150 minutes. A scheduled break will be provided between the two parts.
