The Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trade Marks (CGPDTM), which operates under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) within the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, has declared openings for 86 positions on a deputation (including short-term contract) basis in the Trade Marks Registry.

Eligible officers are invited to apply for the roles of Deputy Registrar, Assistant Registrar, and Examiner of Trade Marks.

Applications are to be submitted through the appropriate channels, either online or via post, within 30 days from the date of publication in the employment newspaper dated 13th September 2025 Issue. Job Location:

  • Examiner of Trade Marks: Delhi (30), Ahmedabad (13).
  • Selected candidates may be posted anywhere in India.

Applicants are required to include the following documents:

  • Vigilance Clearance
  • Attested copies of ACRs/APARs for the past 5 years
  • Certification of service

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Assistant Registrar & Examiner: Up to 3 years.
  • Assistant Registrar: A degree in Law with 5 years of experience OR a Master’s in Law with 3 years of experience. Desirable: Ph.D. in Intellectual Property.
  • Deputy Registrar: A degree in Law accompanied by 10 years of pertinent experience OR a Master’s in Law with 8 years of experience. Desirable: Ph.D. in Intellectual Property.
  • Examiner of Trade Marks: A degree in Law with 2 years of experience in legal/IP matters. Desirable: Master’s in Intellectual Property.

Age Limit:

  • Maximum 56 years as on the closing date (14/10/2025).
  • Age relaxation applicable as per government norms for reserved categories.

Pay Scale:

  • Deputy Registrar: Level 12 (Rs.78,800 – Rs.2,09,200).
  • Assistant Registrar: Level 11 (Rs.67,700 – Rs.2,08,700).
  • Examiner of Trade Marks: Level 7 (Rs.44,900 – Rs.1,42,400).
