The National Testing Agency (NTA) has instructed candidates to confirm the identity proof in PDF format that was submitted during the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main 2026 registrations by January 15, 2026.
An official notification from the NTA states, “Certain candidates registered using identity proof documents other than the Aadhaar Card. In some instances, the live photographs taken by the candidates during the application process did not correspond with the photographs available in the UIDAI records.”
“The NTA has granted such affected candidates the opportunity to verify their identity by uploading a signed and attested certificate, along with a recent photograph duly certified by their school/college principal or headmaster,” the notification further explained.
“However, in light of the complaints received from candidates regarding the inaccessibility of some verifying authorities, candidates are now allowed to obtain attestation from a Class-I Gazetted Officer, such as Tehsildar, Revenue Officer, SDM, DM / Class-I Gazetted Officer of the Indian Embassy (for NRI candidates),” the notification added.
The examination for JEE Main 2026 is scheduled to commence on January 21, and the city intimation is expected to be released in the first week of January. Upon qualification, candidates will be eligible for admission to engineering and architecture courses.
JEE Main is a national-level entrance examination organized by the NTA for students aspiring to gain admission to undergraduate engineering and architecture programs in India. It is utilized for admission to NITs, IIITs, CFTIs, and numerous other engineering institutions, and it also acts as the qualifying examination for JEE Advanced, which is necessary for entry into IITs. The exam primarily assesses students in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and is typically conducted online twice a year, enabling students to enhance their scores.
