CBSE Board Exams 2026: The Controller of Examinations at the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj, has declared that entry to examination centers will be not permitted after 10 am for the morning shift papers that are set to commence at 10:30 am. He stated that question papers will be distributed at 10:15 am, and the examination will end strictly according to the designated duration. However, candidates with Disabilities (PwD) will receive the allotted additional time.
Dr. Bhardwaj also presented a comprehensive exam-day “bell schedule” to assist students in managing their time within the examination hall. He mentioned that there will be a unique, extended bell system to signify important moments – a single bell will ring when there are 10 minutes remaining for the paper to finish, and a longer bell will indicate the conclusion of the examination.

CBSE Enforces Strict 10 AM Entry Regulation, Students Urged to Arrive at Centres Prior to Exam Day
In light of the stringent entry time, the board has urged all students to plan their journeys by taking into account local conditions, traffic, weather, and distance. All schools have been instructed to guide and support parents and students. Students are also encouraged to visit their examination centers ahead of time and organize their travel to guarantee timely arrival on all examination days.
What Does the Bell Schedule Indicate?
There will be a single bell and a long bell designated for specific functions. A single bell will sound to inform students that one or two hours have elapsed and for other purposes. The longer bell will signal the start and end of the examination.
The board has instructed superintendents to refrain from disturbing students during their 15 minutes of reading the question paper.
