
Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has initiated the re-registration procedure for its January 2026 academic session starting today (December 1). Students are required to complete this process on the official website, ignou.ac.in, by January 15, 2026. This opportunity is extended to students enrolled in all online and distance learning programs. IGNOU has commenced the re-registration process for the January 2026 session, which will be available from December 1 to January 15 on ignou.ac.in for all distance learning students.
The university has introduced an online system that enables students to update their personal details, select courses, and pay the necessary fees. This step is compulsory for all current students wishing to continue their education. IGNOU recommends that students exercise caution when choosing courses, as any modifications made later could disrupt the academic timetable. Furthermore, IGNOU has advised students to refrain from submitting their forms on the final day to prevent potential technical difficulties caused by high traffic on the portal. After completing the form, it is crucial to save both the confirmation page and the payment receipt.
Students are encouraged to make payments securely using debit/credit cards, net banking, or UPI. In the event of a payment delay, they should wait before attempting to retry. Should there be a double payment, the surplus amount will be refunded automatically. Students from the International Division can also utilize the online payment options available for their respective regions and must adhere to the same procedure as domestic students.
How to Re-Register
Students can carry out their re-registration process via IGNOU’s official website, ignouI.ac.in. The direct form submission portal is ignou.samarth.edu.in.
The re-registration process consists of five main steps:
- Visit the IGNOU website and access the re-registration link located in the “Register Online” section.
- Carefully read all the instructions provided on the portal.
- Log in and enter your personal information along with the chosen course.
- Upload the necessary documents and complete the payment online.
- After confirming all the details, submit the form and download both the confirmation page and the payment receipt.
